Ohio State Reformatory

My first trip to the Ohio State Reformatory did not disappoint! We decided on the behind the bars tour, which was well worth the extra $5. We explored the original hospital, attic, chapel, cell blocks, and basement. Once the tour was over, we got to walk around and explore the open areas. It was so interesting and awesome to see. Fun facts:

• Built between 1886-1910

• The first inmates were greeted on September 15, 1896

• The main building is symmetrical proven by the “X” in the exact center

• Closed in 1999

• Shawshank Redemption was filmed here

• Parts of ”Air Force One” were shot here

• Eric Church’s music video for “Some Of It” was shot here

• Lil’ Wayn’s music video “Go DJ” was shot hereLil and parts of the cell were painted gold

• Godsmack’s video “Awake” was filmed here

• Every year the reformatory hosts INKcarceration Music & tattoo festival

• It is also said to be very haunted
