Summer Reading Challenge

I have been managing the Summer Reading Challenge project every year since 2020.

The goal each year is to create pieces to draw in the customers and increase customer participation and completion.

I have made changes and updates throughout the five years. The library has wanted to stick with the superhero theme, but I have found ways to make each year fun and fresh. I added characters, came up with different designs, and offer more poster sizes.

Captain Read and Wonder Words

In 2020, I was asked to create a sidekick for main characters. I came up with Power Pup!

In 2020, during Covid, I decided the generic buildings used for the Summer Reading Challenge didn't make sense. So, I illustrated the Columbus skyline to use in the 2021 designs.

For the 2021 Summer Reading Challenge, I was asked to create three new characters to show diversity in our superheroes. I came up with Page Turner, Speedy Reader, and Witty Writer.

Our 150th celebration was in 2023. Our library wanted to incorporate the 150 logo into the Summer Reading Challenge. With this in mind, I chose to make it a little darker and make the 150 logo the Reading League's call symbol.
